Transform yourself with our foam latex prosthetics for special effects makeup.
Alice in Wonderland is a fantastic voyage through the mind. Theaters putting on this production will often double-cast roles, though there is some value to avoiding that; having a more "full" court scene at the climax, and having the chance to explore prosthetic makeup options without any quick changes nor resorting to static masks for the variety of animal characters sprinkled throughout this adventure can make it appear more lively.
The costumes for this show can be varied. If you're going with a open-faced fur hoods for all the animal characters, our prosthetics will excel at complimenting that style.
When planning for how many copies of prosthetic pieces are needed this production, add up the total of not only the performances, but also makeup tests, dress rehearsals and any promotional photos or events you may be holding as each of these counts as an application of the foam latex pieces.
The characters
White Rabbit - He has scenes throughout the performance and is never double-cast. We have two different rabbit pieces that will suit him, the Rabbit Nose and the Rabbit Face; both of which can both work well here. The nose-only piece will leave the actor's forehead and eyebrows available to emote, the full-face piece will give the white rabbit a more stoic look, which may suit his character. If an open-faced fur hood is being used for the white rabbit, our rabbit face can have fur glued onto it to create a more blended look.
Caucus Race - The Dodo, Eaglet, Lory, Duck, Mouse & others, this scene sometimes gets cut. Or actors are double-cast for cards later. There's a variety of small woodland animals that make up this group, they can be varied depending on costume availability. We have an assortment of bird beaks to make most varieties of birds possible. The Small Eagle / Hawk Beak could suit the Dodo, The Small Duck Bill can work for the duck, the Small Rat Nose can be used for a mouse, and so on. These animals can help populate the court scene later.
Bill - A lizard, the white rabbit's handyman; a minor role. Our Lizard Nose can suit this character fairly well. If a more exaggerated look is desired, our Dragon Muzzle could work as well.
March Hare & Doormouse - The doormouse is often portrayed with a puppet or a prop, however it can be cast as costumed role. The rabbit nose will work great for the March Hare, having the actor's forehead free to emote will be an asset. The doormouse can be covered by our Small Rat Nose or Small Rodent Nose. for a more subdued or 'petite' look.
Cheshire Cat - Some Productions may use a puppet for this mischievous cat, but this role can be done with a costumed actor. It can be done with using our Cat Face prosthetic or any of our cat noses. Although this character has been ainmated and done in strange colours with a large cartoon grin, it has always meant to be a regular house cat, a bit sinister, and has a more realistic appearance in other media and film.
Gryphon & Mock Turtle - The Gryphon can be portrayed with our Small or Large Eagle / Hawk Beaks, depending on the look you're going for. The Mock Turtle is meant to have the head of a cow, so any of our cow related pieces can work.
Diverging stories...
If your production is adding scenes from Alice Through the Looking-Glass, then you may encounter a few more characters:
Walrus - If your production is adding Tweedledee and Tweedledum, chances are that the Walrus and The Carpenter poem will be present and will be acted out. Our Walrus Muzzle can cover this character with ease.
Lion & Unicorn - It's rare to have any production make this scene, but if you're doing it, we have our Large Horse / Donkey Muzzle and our Wild Cat Nose or Large Wild Cat Muzzle to cover these seldom-used characters. It would be a subtle nod to use these in the court scene.
Jabberwock - If for some reason your production decides to include this character, it's a nightmarish chimera. So anything goes.
