Our most abstract and bizarre piece to date, we’re pleased to launch our new Pool Toy Half Mask! This mask was designed to mimic a vinyl inflatable pool toy, but it’s just a hollow latex shell. It will come painted by default, with hidden air holes, and optional straps. Now you can transform yourself to match any of your favorite inflatable pool toys. We’ve painted up 7 demonstration pieces for our launch, but the possibilities are truly endless; we can custom paint this mask in any way desired.
We agree with Kaku; giraffes are awesome! Now you can be one too.
So here’s our new Giraffe / Kirin Muzzle. It can be painted in yellow/tan colours for a traditional giraffe look, which can come in handy for productions of Madagascar the musical. But, this muzzle could be painted in any other colour to be used as a Kirin or Qilin, an eastern type of deer-dragon hybrid. Just put a beard or mustache on it.
Also, we’ve re-sculpted out Witch Nose & Chin Set. It was first made around 16 years ago, and didn’t even have a master copy or core to be made in foam latex. But now it’s been re-sculpted, with skin texture, wrinkles and looks far more realistic than before. And now can be produced in foam latex too. So for any productions of The Wizard of oz, or Into the Woods, this piece will certainly come in handy.
We’re pleased to announce a few new pieces!
First up is our Small Cartoon Muzzle.
This is a grinning generic cartoon animal muzzle. It has wrinkles on the bridge of the muzzle, a big round nose and it comes with 3 different sets of teeth, which means it can be useful for several different species such as dogs, wolves, foxes, skunks, rats or mice. It all depends on how you paint it and what other accessories are worn with it.
The previous molds for these pieces are well worn out and needed to be replaced. However being some of our earlier work from before we started making master copies of items, we had restart these from scratch. The new versions are similar to the old ones, however they are far more detailed. Our skill level has increased in the 11 or so years since the original versions of these were made and the updated versions of these pieces truly reflects that.
Just a small update about the cart. We’ve been implementing a way to better communicate that we need time to make your orders. Sometimes, there’s an unrealistic expectation that orders can be shipped instantly upon ordering. It’s easy to forget that we’re two artists with a small business and not a huge corporation like Amazon. We don’t keep pre-painted pieces in stock, as well as pieces that aren’t in demand.
So we’ve assigned a production time to each item and each option in hopes of better communicating that we need time to make your items before being able to ship them. We’ve always pushed to have orders shipped within 3 days, we want this process as clearly understood as possible. Sometimes, custom painted orders, large orders, or orders for multiple copies of the same item need more time to be produced, which is difficult when our cart spits out an unrealistic shipping date. This new production time will help estimated shipping times be more accurate.
Ultimately, if you need an order for a specific date, mention it in your order’s comments, we’re capable of working within your time frames.
For now, you will see a production time associated with each item, listed in hours in the cart. And it will appear next to all the shipping methods as “estimated production time”. We’ll continue to tweak this feature in hopes of making it as accurate as possible.
You have likely heard about GDPR extensively with endless e-mails and notices over the past few weeks.
Companies large and small are required to maintain transparency and be upfront with what they’re doing with your data in order to not face stiff penalties. Even small 2-person business like ours have to make it clear what we do with your data and gain your consent. We’ve never done shady things with your data, and never will, we’re far too busy making masks to have the time for such nonsense.
TL;DR – We don’t use ads, or newsletters. We don’t buy or sell your data. We have no choice but to share your data with payment processors like PayPal or Square in order to securely receive payments; and couriers like Canada Post in order to know where to ship your orders. We delete your account data after 5 years of inactivity and delete order data older than 7 years. Our server and our home computers are encrypted & secure. The only data we keep is what you give to us, and if you want us to delete it, tell us and we will ASAP.
We’re erring on the side of caution and deleting any account that has bouncing e-mails as well, since we cannot inform you of these changes via e-mail.

We’re looking forward to Halloween this year! We’ve made some improvements to help with the demand. There are some changes made with shipping, new credit card processing with Square, and we’re keeping a bigger inventory of items. We’re experiencing issues with USA -based credit cards being declined due to us being located in Canada.
To start, we’ve managed to improve our shipping calculator with a box manager. Though we still can’t seem to get Tracked Packet results to appear, it should be able to package multiple items into a box and calculate a fairly accurate shipping rate. Canada Post does occasionally go down for maintenance on Saturday evenings/ Sunday mornings, so if you cannot get a rate for shipping your order, please call or e-mail us for assistance, or try again a few hours later. To have your order arrive in time for Halloween, order early. If you’re ordering in October, consider Expedited shipping, or even Xpresspost to ensure it arrives in time.
New Payment Method
We’ve installed a new payment option. We can now can process credit card payments through Square. You will see this new option in step 2 of the checkout process, new fields for entering your credit card number, expiry date, CCV number and zip/postal code. When entering a credit card during checkout on our site, the information will be securely transmitted and processed by Square. We do not store any credit card data. It should be just as easy as using PayPal.
USA Credit Card Declines
We are still receiving frequent credit card declines through both PayPal and Square from our American customers. We’ve had our site examined by our developer, created tickets with PayPal support and notified Square. This isn’t an error with any of these sources. The issue is that we are located in Canada, and it would seem that vigorous security measures by credit card issuers have disabled international payments by default. We recommend that our American customers contact their credit card issuers to allow for international transactions so that payments on our site aren’t blocked. In almost every instance, the 2nd attempt at payment is granted once the block for international transactions is removed from your card.
Finally, this year we’ve decided to make a massive inventory ahead of time for the Halloween season. Usually we dislike keeping a huge stock of prosthetics made as they take up space and can sometimes be difficult to store. This year we’re trying out having a large stockpile of hot foam latex pieces since we’ve found a reliable method to store these pieces with flat bins to keep them safe and free of being folded, warped or damaged. So bring it on! We’re always diligently working on orders and are aiming for a 24-48 hour turnaround time on orders for blank hot foam latex pieces. We still need a few days for preparing painted pieces and slush cast pieces, please keep this in mind when choosing a shipping speed.
A New Contender for Biggest Muzzle.
We’re hungry to show off our newest muzzle, it’s our biggest and fattest yet!
A Hippopotamus Muzzle! Perfect for productions of Madagascar the Musical, or if you’re just going for a gluttonous look. It has a big wide mouth, big lips and big teeth too.
We’re please to announce three new pieces are now available.
First up is our Reindeer Nose. This is a friendly-looking piece that can be used for all types of deer and antelope. It was modeled after a reindeer, so it’ll be be perfect for holiday productions.
Next is our Large Eagle / Hawk Beak. This is a HUGE piece that extends 11cm (4.5″) off your face. It was modeled after a bald eagle, and can be useful for many raptor birds like hawks, eagles and vultures… or cosplay of Braviary. ^_^
Last up is our Seagull Beak. This is our longest beak yet; it extends 13 cm (5″) off your face. It may be a unitasker intended to be a seagull which has a pretty unique shape, but it certainly can be painted in many different ways. It’ll be very useful for productions of The Little Mermaid for Sid the seagull… or cosplay as a Wingull ^~^
Although the potential lockout or strike between Canada Post and its union isn’t yet resolved, we’re glad to announce that we’ve found and implemented what is likely the least expensive interim solution for shipping..
We’re implemented shipping rates through e-shipper, a 3rd party that will scrape and provide rates from multiple carriers. They have much bigger volume discounts with all these carriers than what we could get by ourselves with UPS. They also provide rates with DHL, FedEx, Purolator and a few other carriers as well. So for now, this will likely be the least expensive shipping we can provide for the duration of this issue between Canada Post and its unions.
We’ll make an announcement once Canada Post shipping has returned to normal. We appreciate everyone’s patience with the situation, we will continue to make prosthetics and ship out orders and not let this speedbump get us down!
As some of our customers may have noticed, we’re no longer providing inexpensive shipping quotes with Canada Post.
Due to the ongoing labour dispute between Canada Post Corporation and the Canadian postal workers union, where there could be a strike or lockout on July 2nd, 2016; we will be unable to ship using Canad Post’s services such as small packet air and tracked packet for the time being.
We will be shipping our remaining Canada Post orders today and tomorrow and they should have more than enough time to leave the country before they’re affected by any disruption. Suspending Canada Post as a shipping method is necessary lest we have orders trapped within their system for weeks.
For the time being, we have implemented UPS for shipping our orders and we are also applying a $5 CAD discount on UPS shipping to ease the increased shipping cost to our USA-based customers. We realize that international shipping outside North America will be expensive for now, but this is the best we can offer outside of the national mail service. We are also exploring a volume discount with UPS which will further ease the cost, and we’ll announce it as soon as it becomes available. We apologize for the inconvenience this causes, we will continue to make and ship orders throughout this time.
As for an estimate on how long this will last for, the last work stoppage in 2011 lasted for 3 weeks until the Canadian government led by Stephen Harper passed back to work legislation, which was later found to be illegal. This time around, we don’t know how long it will last.
