USA Shipping & Tariffs

To our American customers,
On August 29, 2025, U.S. Customs and Border Protection removed the de minimis exemption that once allowed small orders from Canada to enter the U.S. tax-free.
This change is the result of tariffs introduced by the Trump administration under IEEPA (International Emergency Economic Powers Act). Canada is included in those tariffs, and unfortunately the U.S. postal system is not yet able to accept CUSMA/USMCA certifications that should exempt Canadian-made goods like ours.
Because of this, all Canadian businesses shipping through the postal system (including us) must now send parcels DDP (Delivered Duty Paid)—meaning we must collect and remit a 35% tariff on your order.
All our prosthetics are made by us in Canada with U.S.-made materials, yet there is currently no practical way for us to enforce CUSMA/USMCA protections. Shipping with private couriers like FedEx and UPS would allow us to submit CUSMA/USMCA certifications; however, their DDP services are only offered by air, making them very expensive (usually well over $100 CAD per shipment). We know this is frustrating—it is for us, too. As a two-person art studio, these added costs hit hard.
To make things a little easier for our U.S. supporters:
-Canada Post uses Zonos to process tariff payments. We collect the fee from you and pay it to Zonos and they pay it to CBP.
-Zonos charges 10% of the tariff + $2 CAD as a processing fee on every shipment.
-We will cover these processing fees ourselves so you don’t pay more than the 35% tariff.
Example: A blank Sheep/Goat Nose foam latex prosthetic priced at $42.82 CAD is assessed a 35% tariff of $14.99 CAD. Zonos will also add a $3.50 CAD + HST processing fee, but we will cover that extra processing fee.
We hope this situation improves soon—either if U.S. courts strike down the IEEPA tariffs, or in Feb 2026, when USPS and CBP are expected to begin accepting CUSMA certifications through the postal system.
Thank you for understanding, and for continuing to support independent art across borders. Every order you place helps keep small makers like us going despite these barriers.
-Jason & Mark
September 9th addendum:
We updated our return policy to reflect the changes caused by the IEEPA tariffs.
With the IEEPA 35% tariffs in place for U.S. bound shipments, we will be unable to refund any tariff amounts that we collect for U.S orders once they're shipped. If you need to return an item, we will be unable to refund the 35% IEEPA tariff as there is no mechanism in place to seek a refund from Zonos or CBP.
